Mcguinn 370 Question

Im new to the site and I did a search on the 1988 370-12 Mcguinn edition rick guitar. I know they made 1000 of them, but does anyone know how many black ones were made? I have an opportunity to buy one and wasn't sure of a fair price. Thank you in advance for your help.

I'm not certain of this but I believe I saw somewhere that it was 500 Mapleglo and 250 each of Fireglo & Jetglo. Maybe someone else can chime in (pun intended) with more details. Prices seem to be holding right around $4k.

Two things that can affect the price are (1) a missing Certificate Of Authenticity (COA), and (2) finish checking. About a year and a half ago, I paid $2500 for a 370/12RM Fireglo that had both of those 'problems' - not a problem for me, obviously.

Those numbers, I think, are estimates. There certianly seem to be much fewer than 250 Jetglos around, if the amount I have seen are of any indication. I couldn't venture a guess.

I was told that only about a dozen or so of the Black ones were made. Trying to confirm that. I have an opportunity to purchase one in absolute brand new condition. A 10/10 guitar with Certificate signed in Ink by Mr. Mcguinn orginal case and candy.

If that's the case then Jetglo McGuinns should be quite valuable. 12 out of 1000 would be quite rare. I'd love to hear approx. numbers from Mr. Hall.

$5900?? That's just plain crazy... It's cheaper to do the mod yourself.. Knowing GC, it's probably not described accurately...

It's more than just that - The 370/12RM is a reissue of a mid 60's 370/12 - meaning 3 toasters, 21 frets, checkered binding, full-width inlays, different tuners, etc.

That is the one I was talking about. I will say that guitar is a 10/10 guitar. It is described correctly. That one picture has what looks like overspray and its under the clear so it is a factory blemish.

That's very pricey John. If you've got your heart set on the McGuinn model, I would wait for another one.

However, if you just want a reissue of a 60's 360/370, you could go for a Carl Wilson model. In fact, Mike Parks still has a new unsold one in Fireglo, I think he wanted around $2400. For around $600 or $700, our own Paul W. can refinish it in any finish you like and perhaps even add the 3rd pickup for you.

You can get the compression kit from Tonewerks I believe.
