Toots Thielmans in DC, 4/13/06

If you're in the DC area and want to see Toots Thielmans perform, he's playing at Blues Alley in Georgetown on the evening of 4/13. He's apparently on tour(!) in a duo playing around a little...I think he's in his 90's now!! Maybe he'll talk about his days playing a Rickenbacker with George Shearing, and meeting John Lennon in 1964...

I just got back from Blues Alley, saw the band 'Vital Information' with drummer Steve Smith(Journey) leading the band. It was cool, I sat about 10 feet from Steve...one of the best drummers alive. Words cannnot describe his ability. The whole band tore the roof off.

Jean 'Toots' Thielemans is 83.
A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.
