One of my good friends and co workers is Randy Hill ...I don't know where he is in So Cal ,but last I knew he was at Spitzer's and before that at West LA and before that Valley Arts .

Jim Foote I have no idea where he is but he was long ago at World of Strings in Long Beach .

Don Butler can be found at Voxtalks or the Gretsch forum ,he is in So Cal .

Steve Soest is in Orange near the BIG A stadium .If you go to him , Paul Morte -master amp electronics guy is almost next door ...literally .

Hope this is of use.

I don't know if San Diego is too far away, but a buddy of mine is a tremendous luthier and the owner of Top Gear in La Mesa. His name is Dan Altilio. If you want his contact information please let me know. Somewhat slow, but very precise, high quality work.

Steve Soest at Soest Guitar in Orange (714-538-0272) is an excellent recommendation in So. Calif. He's an ex-employee with great skills and enviable work ethic.

We won't hold it against him that he was the main consultant for the modern Danelectros . . . but through that experience the man sure knows his Masonite!
