OCD Attack

Post by shinynewtoy »

Is there a diagnosable problem present when one feels compelled to install Schaller Straploks on 6 guitars in a 20-minute period? I did it so they'd be safer... but I'm starting to worry myself!

Am I the only nut around here that has done this?

You've got what is called SSS. Shaller Straplock Syndrome.

Now, if you keep on practicing, you can probably get your timing down to, oh, say 8 minutes on 6 guitars. Thus, the next time you are at some kind of festival or summertime fair or such, where they have quickness contests that involves a phillips head screwdriver, you can win the top prize!Image

I have straplocks, and use them, but I really dont like them.

I think they make you careless, give you a false sense of security.

It all started because they came on my 4001, and I wanted to use my (comfy) strap with my other instruments without taking off the mechanism.

And Rob... did I mention that the 20 minutes included a smoke break? Image

The Schallers are on all my instruments. They are a better design that is more secure compared to the Dunlops, IMO.

I'd wanted to do it for a while, once I saw that Stewmac sells individual pegs I jumped on them.

I just unscrew the RIC bolts & screw the strap back on with the bolt & a washer for security. No chance it'll ever come off unless I want it to!

Our soundguy/backup singer/rythm guitar player recently dropped his Chet Atkins acoustic/electric. No damage to the guitar, but a heart stopping moment!
Better safe than sorry!
