Gettin on a plane!

Post by nattiep »

Well finally my moving situation has cleared up. I'm getting on a Plane to LA tonight on the way back to Buffalo. I'll be spending a week (I hope that's maximum) with my Grandparents in LA.

I have put my bass in it's case and wrapped the case in cardboard.. I hope that's good enough. And yes, I know now to wait a few days to take it out of the case for the finish checking thing.

This is a 13 or 14 hour flight, and I'm not looking forward to it, but it's mandatory. And if I don't like it back in Buffalo my mom said she'd get me a ticket to come back to visit at Christmas, which is great, because I've come to love a bunch of my aunts and uncles and my cousins. I absolutely love my 2nd cousin Mandy's baby Lily (I'm a sucker for babies) and I absolutely love Mandy.. she's like another auntie. Same with her sister Shannon.. lol. Another auntie and Shannon's my friend too.. and Shannon has a 2 year old, Liam, that's a complete cutie too. And I got to meet my 80+ year old Great Nana. She's crazy, (Not old lady crazy, just funny) and I love her to death.

Ok, I'm rambling!

Wish me luck my friends! I'll post a follow up when i get to a computer next! Image

I'm confused Nate, why is it a 14 hour flight?

You'll be good in Buffalo. And if you ever get bored, my place is 6 hours away... you're welcome anytime! Image

John, it would appear that Nate is flying to LA from New Zealand and then he goes on to Buffalo. The IP Address attached to his post confirmed his current location for me.

For some reason I thought he was in the States already? I guess not.

Good luck Nate. I hope your relatives can handle lots of bottom end.

Good luck with the trip, Nate! If the 14 hour trip gets you down, think of the extra 3 hours it will take me to get from Sydney to SF - plus the hour and a bit from Melbourne to Sydney - plus the 2 hours between flights!

I hope 14 hours doesn't sound quite so bad now.... ImageImage

But Aitch... at least you're capable of wasting time in the airport watering holes! Image

Too bloody right, Bob!! I hope there's a bar in the transit lounge. It will be around 1pm - ideal time for a tipple or two! Image

Sorry guys. I was at my nana's house in Lancaster, north of LA. I would have loved to meet up with the guys in Sol Cal, but alas, I didn't even get to a guitar center to get new strings!

I am at my auntie Kelly's house now. Just arrived about 2 hours ago. Trip was decent. The on demand TV on the Air New Zealand flight was amazing! The state side flights were kind of cramped though.

It's good to be home!!

I've flown with Rics many times, I just put it in the case and just put some kind of good tape around it to make sure it doesn't fly open and put a bunch of fragile stickers on it. I had one one mishap, I went to Peru and my bass went to Brazil, I got it back in about a week.
One night in a heated house is plenty, basses only check if they are really really cold and opened in a warm place, a night will warm them up sufficiently. I've never checked a bass in 40 years and have had to open and play some pretty cold basses here and there even though I avoid doing that unless I have absolutely have to.

I have no idea! I've barely been here 24 hours and you want me to come visit?! Image

I'll visit when I get my bass fixed up.
