Wow! Just unreal. By the end he's crackin' himself up because the sounds are just so over the top. Amazing.

The amazing thing is, Michael is the nicest, most unassuming guy you could ever meet.

Check out Chris Kuffner: http://www.myspace.com/chriskuffner

He's a good friend of mine and took lessons with Manring several years ago. The greatest bassist i've ever seen.

Yes that was pretty amazing, I would like to see what he could do without all those effects and boxes though. I liked Wootens solo better last month it was pretty much just him and his bass with minimal effects if I remember correctly.

Yes....Absolutely amazing. Other than Jaco I heard some Alphonso Johnson, Steve Bailey and a taste of Percy Jones. It's amazing what you can accomplish with electronic goodies these days!

Michael does some incredible stuff without all the loops, too.

Speaking of Percy:

This was at a gig in Baltimore where Rare Blend and Tunnels shared the bill. He is one of my absolutely favorite bassists. He too, is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. Percy does not use any fancy electronics, just his fingers. It is amazing that he can do what he does as I have played that bass and a previous one that he used to use. The action is a mile high on it!

Percy is a gift from the gods...I played a couple of Brand X tunes in a band I was in in the eighties...they were, how should I put this, difficult.

One of these days, I'm gonna tell my "Drinking A Heineken With Jaco At Four In The Morning" story...

Ya know...it's a good story and I don't want to rush it. I'm pullin' an all-nighter at the moment, 250 miles from home, livin' on a construction site and trying to get the design drawings done so's I can get home for the weekend, so it might just have to wait 'til then. I actually sat for almost an hour one night six months ago, remembering the details and trying to get my prose together...finished typing it up and hit the post button, and it vanished into cyberspace. I didn't have the heart to tackle it again right away, and since then it's just been floating around in my squishy gray hard-drive, waiting for the right moment to try again...

I had that feeling about you all along, Jeffrey. I'm the same way...who else would hang out at the Blue Note 'til four in the morning?

A complete relating of the story is on my list of things to do, I promise...

Yikes, Bob!...I don't think it's been a whole year, has it? Oh well...I refer you to the 'favorite quote' portion of my Forum Profile...
