Nektar - Pure DVD - late '60s 4001 at work
I am currently reviewing the upcoming Nektar Live DVD, and bassist Randy Dembo is seen performing with a late '60s (assumed) mapleglo 4001. Horseshoe, toaster, checker binding, full width inlays and (groan) Badass bridge. The PDF has a better look at the bass.
The band page also shows guitarist Ray Albrighton playing a rather suspicious looking doubleneck.

Oh, I REALLY like Nektar.
I haven't heard them mentioned in YEARS. Time to dig out my RECYCLED LP and tick off the neighbors!

Great group. They are played a lot on XM40 Deep Tracks - always getting updates on their latest antics and they played live at the XP Performance Theater. Wish I lived in DC.... A lot of outstanding artists play live there.
When I got out the ole turntable a few years ago, Recycled was one LP I brought up to play (also Remember The Future). My middle daughter liked it. But then she has really good taste in music - very diverse but they have to be musicians. I got her a Takemine acoustic for Christmas in '04. Clean fingers.
