Janglebox or POD2.0 ?

I bought a janglebox because I heard it really gave you that Byrds sound. Maybe I got a bad one because I didn't think it was very good. So I sold it and went back to using my POD2.0 which I think has the best compressor available. Plus the built in headphone jack lets me play in the middle of the night without upsetting the neighbors! Has anyone else had the same experience?

I have probably had the complete opposite experience you have. I can't stand the effects on the POD, they're so artificial sounding.

I agree with John on the POD....I have never heard the Janglebox though.

The reason I bought the janglebox in the first place was because I heard it on their website and it sounded fantastic. For some reason I couldn't get either one of my Rick 12s to sound very good. I was playing through a Fender HotRod Deluxe. Maybe it would have sounded great through a Vox AC30. Or maybe I just got a bad one. I just don't know.

Brian, I have never used my Janglebox with a Vox amp or even a Fender for that matter. In fact, I use it much, much more with my 6 strings then my 12 as well. I find myself leaving it on all the time!

Brian, if you do a search on Janglebox in this forum you will find many, many posts about it. Most are very enthusiastic. Some experiences, such as mine, were less than stellar. I later posted some of my theories about the JBox, its use and its relation to technique as it regards the "Byrds sound." I think Steve Lasko partly agreed with my post and added his own thoughts. I also believe that, if I had the time, Mr. Lasko's offer of assistance could greatly improve my results.

I'm a big fan of the Line 6 Pods, altough I will say that my experience is limited to the Pod Pro rack mounts. Kenny and I use them in the studio for all guitar and bass recording with great results- all of the amps I used to have are now stored on a pallet in the warehouse. The compression on these is absolutely stellar and you'll find that this is also Roger McGuinn's choice in the studio. The newer Pod Pro XL is even better and I'm planning to replace the units I have with these soon.

I have the rackmount Bass Pod Pro and love it! I have a preset for each of my basses and it's never sounded better!

I use a Johnson J Station similar modeler but just for monitoring a DI track through a Little Labs Red Eye DI/Reamp box.

Then when I've got a decent take I reamp the track through a real amp, usually Vox AC30/ Fender Twin or/& a Roland JC77 usually a combination of 2 amps.

Still the best guitar sound is real amps IMO although I sometimes play through a Amplitube guitar amp plug in when trying things out.

Usually I record my amps in the daytime though!

I own both a Line 6 POD and a delay unit. I think that the Pod, like most multi-effects processors, does certain things well and other things not so well.

I just picked up a PODxt bass edition off of Ebay. I havent had much of a chance to mess with it. It came without the instruction manual, so I guess Im going to have to download the 134 pages off of their website.

Bummer.

You HAVE to have the manual for this animal.
