Am I wrong, or is that a pretty good BIN price? I'd love to have one of those.

I think that's a good BIN price. I used to have a real desire for a short-scale Hamer 12-er, but I really need to save for more Ricks!

Here's my '80s Hamer B12S. I spent most of the '90s touring with this bass and another just like it in black. They were all I played. Had a GK and Mesa/Boogie bi-amp rig.

Lovelies, all! That blue one is their new "Blades" model, made after the one they made for Jack Blades from Night Ranger.

Hey Steve - how do you find playing a 12-er on a full scale bass? Is it a bit of a workout? I always figured a 32" or 30" scale might be a bit easier on the left hand.

It's a bit of work...but amazingly easy to adapt to. I also play a Thunderbird, so the scale is not a problem, I guess it's all in what you're used to. The short scale would be a lot of fun, though...I'd love to take one for a spin, and the neck dive might be more tolerable.
Like Ronn, I used to play 12 exclusively, all night, 3 sets, but now I use it on about 20% of the songs in our set. LOVE the sound...it's HUGE.

Yeah Steve, no neck-dive on the shorty Hamer 12. The bodies weigh so much it's not a problem. The whole bass weighs about 12lbs.
I do miss the fuss playing a 12-string bass created, always a great conversation starter between sets. Can't really bust it out at an Eggmen show tho'. Image
I'm seriously jonesing for a "real" band again.

I get the "What the *$&# is THAT?" a lot. Or the "Wow, I never heard of a 12-string BASS before".
At one of my shows, a girl was in the audience who happened to be a D'Addario string rep. I fell in love immediately. Image Her opening line was, "I like the way you handle that 12." It has since become part of band lore.
