Who in their right mind could say an instruments worth diminishes, if it doesn't have it's original finish.

Another two examples of quality craftsmanship to dispel this Furphy! (Another Aussie term eh Aitch!)

Stunning. I agree, the hardware gets in the way of the Aquaglo finish!

Wonderful work, as always! Everyone else seems to have already covered most of the adjectives.

Is my '72 4001 in the on-deck circle?

My '72? Old binding replaced with new, and a refin. We call the color "mink," fashioned from a custom color I once saw on a Les Paul back in the late 1970s. It's kinduva burgundy sunburst. Ted Staberow put walnut headstock wings on it, too. It will be unique.

It's on the bench as I write this, getting re-bound on the rebound.

Ted did a superb job on the walnut wings, BTW, and a terrific bound-neck fret job, too. Believe you me, rebinding the neck after a fret job is a fiddly, time-consuming job.

This one's going to look really killer. You'll be bringing it to the 75th, right, Paul?

As it stands now, if I bring a bass with me to Santa Ana, it will be the BG '72 that Paul just did for me.

Maybe, Paul, but I wonder if it might make more sense for you to bring it there if you have the room? Are you flying or driving? Got room for one more case? Maybe I could bring the hardware and . . . nah, that's getting too complicated.

My intention is to have that one and one more to show, but I'll probably send them ahead since doing the airline luggage thing seems a little sketchy.

Paul,
Just back after a lengthy road trip so I am seeing the last set of photos for my Combo 400 for the first time. Needless to say I am overwhelmed with what Paul has been able to accomplish. It was a diamond in the rough when I bought it and now it simply an amazing looking guitar. I love the body style and now with the bridge cover and the new pick guard it looks factory fresh with still just a hint of its 49 year heritage. Can't wait to play it and Paul you have exceeded my expectations - Excellent work !!! and thanks a ton

Paul, I'll be driving a van and bringing something like a dozen guitars. If you send me the hardware, I can get it assembled for you and bring it with me.

Alternatively, I have no problem bringing the body sans hardware.
