New 4003

Post by sloop_john_b »

After my failed Cheyenne experiment, and with my 4003 leaving for Dale in a few days, I needed a bass and decided to go with something familiar yet new - a 4003MG.

I have never had a Mapleglo Rick before and I decided now would be a better time then ever to get one - the walnut wings!

The first thing I did was "toast" it, followed by putting a set of Chromes on.

Love those walnut ears!

The VTS is cool but I don't know how often i'll be using it - a capped 4001 bridge pickup is not really a useful tone for me. I ordered a set of vintage knobs and a clear finger-rest from Pickguardian, and will definitley take more pics when she's all dolled up.

Also, I noticed that these inlays are much more "sparkly" than my '99 - I suppose RIC switched to a different formula to achieve a more vintage look?

Really nice MG John. I'm kind of partial to MapleGlo myself! Ahh, those walnut wings....

Very nice! Well staged pics also! I particularly like the lighting in the top shot.

Nice! And you're right about the inlays. They do seem to be more lively looking than most. Yummy!

Thanks all. It's a wonderful bass. I bought it as just a temp replacement for my '99 but I think it'll be sticking around! These new ones are just great basses.

Brian, that just means more for you! Image
