Paul W. Thanks. I'll have Ted S. send the hardware to you for reassembly. If you have room to haul it to the 75th "homecoming," great. You bring the bass (case and carton, too, please), and I'll bring a check! Hope to see photos soon!

Yep. A PA-120 that I got from Tracey Sands last year.
That's a 4-channel SS/reverb PA amp. 120 watts. Abuckawatt. Bargain!

Did you get the "suitcase" speakers with that or the columns? Those little speakers were simply amazing. Another feature that PA has is an anti-feedback control that really works, without any change to the audio. It's a phase control, the obvious way to control feedback and I don't understand why other PA's don't have this.

Cool. I'd like to see a pic of that, with the speakers.
I did find this though:

All I got was the raw amp, John. But I'll keep an eye out for the speakers...anyone got any pictures???

I happen to have this '72 4001 that I'm rebinding and refinishing for a Mr. Paul Boyer...
It had the original checkerboard binding, which had deteriorated over the decades and turned nearly transparent--it was quite yellow besides.
I've stripped the binding and redone the checkerboard and the outer celluloid. The bass came to me stripped, but with the maple sanded roughly and quite scratched in places. It now has been finish-sanded and all hairline gaps filled (important in a rebinding job, as the clearcoat tends to resist filling gaps bigger than microscopic in size!). It is ready for sealer and will receive color in the next few days...
The first photo shows an area where the binding rabbet had been incorrectly cut, leading to a tapered end on the binding, which must've looked weird...I recut the end at the blue area to make it consistent in width.

Here's the body ready for the double binding:

Here's the checkerboard being applied. I prefer to use tape to hold the binding, rather than rubber bands. I also have my own binding cement that I make up.

Love those checkered bindings!! That pic you have labeled ready for white outer (filename ends in 073) for some reason reminds me of cowboys, a western feel. Would make an interesting look with just checkered, no white outer.... Course for about 20 years of my life I was convinced I was a cowboy in a past life!
Looking forward to seeing MinkGlo! Oh, and nice inlays.

What a marvellous set of pictures! It's a joy to see such craftsmanship first-hand. Will there be further pics as the project proceeds?
