Fender Thinline

Post by alexrocks »

I've had my Ric 330 for almost 10 years now, and I use it exclusively. I've liked it so much, I've never had an interest in getting anything else. Untill now. I like the thinlines and am considering picking one up. Does anybody here have one/like it/hate it/why. Are there some that are better than others? thanks.

Which specifically, the one with the Wide Range Humbuckers or the single coils?

I don't really know, that's why I'm asking. What's a good kind?
thanks

I've heard good things about the '72 reissues.

Okay, let's break it down:

This is the model with the Wide-Range humbuckers, designed by Seth Lover for Fender in the early 70's. Very fat sounding, not exactly like a typical Gibson PAF, but the same idea.

This is the model that has the typical Tele setup - two single coil pickups. If you've never played a Tele, the bridge pickup is extremely thin and twangy sounding, while i'd describe the neck pickup as 'woody" and not very powerful. Many Tele players change the neck pickups, I don't have much of a problem with them.

It all comes down to what type of sound you want. I personally like my guitars to sound bright, so I'd go for the '69 over the '72.
