RickenMarsden?

Post by sowhat »

Check this out
I might have poor eyesight, but it seems to me Gerry's playin' a Rick on this one. Am i right?
Funny thing, BTW: my friends have written & recorded the song based on much the same riff in 1999, but only recently i've discovered that fact. I doubt they've "ripped off", however: somehow i doubt they've ever heard of Gerry & the Pacemakers...

Correct, Sheena. Looks like the 360/12 OS before the headstock was butchered......

I love the mic bump-it reminds me of St. Patrick's Day! I don't know how many teeth I've almost lost from mics being driven into my face by some drunken, dancing idiot holding half a pint of swampy green beer who can't stay on his/her feet.

Bill,
that's why you need a trombone player in your band. Set one up right next to you mic and make sure all the arrangements have random low notes.

Chris: Gerry Marsden famously sawed off the end of the headstock so the guitar would fit inside a custom road case that he built for it. It would appear that he mistakenly used the overall length of his '64 360/12 OS as the outside dimension for the case. Since he didn't have time to rebuild the case, he opted to saw the guitar. Like they say, measure twice and cut once (but never cut the guitar)!

Chris: Yep, Gerry's guitar was custom ordered for him by Brian Epstein (who managed both the Beatles and Gerry And The Pacemakers), so that he could have a guitar like George Harrison's.

I wonder if they'll ever produce a Gerry Marsden Limited Edition re-issue. Just take a v64 and run it through a band saw. Image

Anybody know where that guitar is now? Any post-amputation pictures available on-line? I must be a masochist for wanting to see it!

Marsden should have gotten the 'Fool Of The Decade' award for that one.
