620 or 620 /12?
I just found this forum and I think it's a great place learn about Rics. I am a bass player primarily (use Fenders, hope that's okay here). I got a bug to pick up a six string again and after some deliberation have decided on a Ric 620. I found a turquois 620 on EBAY that I think can be had for around $800. I also came across a dealer in NC (Rickenbacker Page). They have two 620's, a 6 and a 12 both in Burgundy. I'm not familiar with the color and would appreciate opinions. Additonally, I can't make up my mind as to which to get, the six or the twelve. Since I've been on bass the last 10+ yrs, I think I lost whatever lead chops I had and I am leaning toward the 12. BTW- The 6 will run me $1100 new and the 12 $1,200. Sorry for being so wordy but I could use some advice especially about the color burgundy. I have a small Roland JC 55 Amp to use. I would appreciate any input on the color Burgundy and advice on going with a 12 over a 6. Thank You all.
Welcome Steve. I would go with the 12 string 620 Burgundyglo.
The 12 string really cuts through the mix of other guitars and is in the forefront. Forgive me, but isn't that the general philosophy of most bass players. Just kidding. LOL
Burgundyglo is a stunning finish especially with the contrasting white guard and truss rod cover and I don't think you will be disappointed.

Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Steve, I just want you to be aware that you would be paying a big premium for the Burgundy from the Rickenbacker Page. It's his privilege to charge more, of course, but they did not list for more and many dealers do not upcharge for the annual special color.
List is $1419 for the 620/12. You should be able to buy one for about $950 new, or a 620/6 for about $875, especially if you're willing to take one of the standard colors.

The Burgundy's I've seen (660/12s) were very nice guitars, I was very close to pulling the trigger on a used one, but then was able to order a new one for less from my favorite local dealer, so I went with a Fireglo 660/12 (Burgundy was discontinued by then).
Best,
Jon
