How tall is George Martin? Paul is 5'11" and George looks like another 6" taller than Paul.

I sometimes think the 5'11" stats of J, P & G is optimistic. I stood face to face with George, and I'd say 5'9" was closer. Plus look how big George's Gretsch looked on him. Very big for a guy said to be an inch under 6 feet tall.

But yes, G. Martin is supposedly well over 6 feet tall.

Yes, and the three quarter scale guitars on Lennon didn't look so small.

>>>(Lawton)>>> ... the first Beatle Yoko ever slept with was not John.

eh? Where did you hear about this?

>>>look how big George's Gretsch looked on him

this is true. I know a guy who plays in a Beatles cover band who is a real shrimp. Whe HE straps on the Country Gent the whole thing looks pretty silly. (plus his GH licks arent good enough to distract you from the mismatched visual image)

I've read a few books (yes really) wherein they claim Yoko first set her sights on Pauly before snagging John.

I seem to remember reading something about that too (although being in print doesn't automatically make it true). The theory goes that Yoko was out to snag a Beatle any which way she could.

But "setting her sights" doesn't necessarily mean that Yoko had plucked Pauly's bass string before she hooked up with John. I'm not saying it's impossible, but just that I've never seen it stated. Do you know any book names where this was said?

Right, what I've read never implied that Paul & Yoko (Now there's a title for a ballad) ever did the deed, only that she was aiming for a Beatle, and Paul, being the cute one, was the first target. However, it was the '60's, and Paul did find the time to shag once in a while, I'd imagine.

I think all the Fabs were quite shagadelic in the early days. Some of the wild stuff during the tours has only been hinted at in a number of books.

My only story about that was once meeting a guy who had been a dancer in one of the opening acts on a Beatles American tour ('65 I think). He said that there was wild stuff going on all the time. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to really pick his brain but he told a quick story that involved Paul McCartney running down a hotel hallway in his underwear.

Hey... I'd be shocked if that stuff HADN'T been going on.

Hey. There were a few articles linked up on a Beatgear Cavern post, a couple of which straight up (pun) stated the assertion as fact, and others of which suggested it was likely the case. The discussion generally was around Paul's displeasure at John having Yoko around all the time in '68 & '69 (Yoko whom Paul apparently considered as another "notch" on the belt) -- when previously it was typically the other Beatles who were frustrated at times with PAUL having women around all the time.

I'm still suprised by both of them being so chummy together. Especially after she insulted him to the press about his songwriting not too long ago. And I agree with Brammy, I find it very hard to believe Paul and Yoko ever got together.

Flights of fantasy I suspect. I just can't see it.

I think Yoko and Ringo should have got together...they could have started a chain of quasi-Buddhist meditation centers across the country...

...not to mention the good-looking children they could have produced...

good idea.

But when Yoko started to sell the Lennon cupie dolls it would have been the final straw for Mr Starkey who is basically a decent guy and (as it appears to me) the most level headed of the four.
