Fantastic Hofner Bass on ebay

Post by leftybass »

This may be the coolest Hofner Violin Bass I have ever seen...what a find, and only ONE pickup!

Absolutely stunning instrument. It'll be interesting to see what it goes for.

Amazing! Never saw a one-pickup 500/1 either. And that funky cord??? The neck looks T-H-I-C-K!!

It has that nice '50s art-deco look about it.

It looks very much like one that appears in a classic Fellini film, La Dolce Vita I beleive it is.

There is a scene with a rock band and the bassist has a very early Hofner violin bass, earlier than Macca's first.
This is off the record

It needs a neck reset.

Nah, I doubt it.. The angle is good IMO, and the action looks normal for a bass of this vintage. It's about the same as mine(a '57) and mine plays and intonates great.
