Austin music scene in mourning
Wife of Ian McLagan killed in Manor crash
11:06 PM CDT on Wednesday, August 2, 2006
By Shelton Green / KVUE News
Austin's music community is mourning the death of the wife of a rock icon who was killed in a car wreck Wednesday morning.
Reports from the Department of Public Safety said Kim McLagan, 57, the wife of rocker Ian McLagan, died in a head-on collision about 9:30 a.m.
She was driving a P.T. Cruiser on F.M. 969 and Taylor Lane when witnesses say her car crossed into oncoming traffic.
DPS troopers say a car and a dump truck hit head-on. Kim McLagan was a top British fashion model in the 1960s.
At 17 she married rock star Keith Moon of The Who.
She later married Ian McLagan, the musician who was keyboardist for the band Faces.
"This roadway is commonly used by heavy equipment drivers and construction truck drivers to haul equipment for instruction so it's a very traveled road, but it's also a very dangerous road," said Art Cardenas of the Travis County Sheriff's Department.
The driver of the truck escaped without serious injuries.
The Department of Public Safety is investigating what caused the fatal crash.

Sad news indeed.
You just never know when your time is up. Poor Ian he must be devastated.

Ronn,
Assuming that my memory is not playing tricks on me, I believe that you know Ian so I assume that you also knew Kim.
It must be a really sad day for you too.

It's a drag. I'm glad we have a couple gigs this weekend to focus on.
It was weird, I saw coverage of the wreck on the local news last night, no names were given, it was just another wreck on a nasty road, but I felt "something" when I saw the wrecked car.
