To say I am disappointed is an understatement. It's a nice color for sure but as a celebration of the 75th Anniversary I am underwhelmed.

This (IMO) is quite different from a COY, certificate or no.

There will only be 300 in very specific models, 75 of each. COY is only limited to how many can be ordered in that calendar year. These have a special, laser-engraved guard and TRC.

COY instruments, of course, have standard guards and TRCs.

And pricing will be high right off, because dealers plan to make hay while the red sun shines. So don't expect to see one on Ebay next year for $900.

I put in a request for a 360....I think the blueburst 4003 would get jealous if I had another special colored Rick bass.

Philip,

Pick a dealer from the above link, choose your model, make a call in the am, and see if they will take a deposit.

I have a feeling many people had standing orders with their dealers already. You will have to move quickly if it isn't already too late.

Any authorized dealer should be able to order one on your behalf....

I'm in line behind you. I agree. Maybe a silent majority? We'll see.

I not not sure why there should be disappointment at this announcement as I see Mr. Hall as a straight shooter. What he says is usually what he means and he shot down the special/limited edition bass at the beginning of the year. I think some of the disappointment comes from the large amount of forumites that want something like a V68 reissue and they thought that this might morph into something like that. You have to give RIC props for coming up with something easy to celebrate the 75th though.
If for some reason there is no cert with this, I think it would be cool if the Hall's did something like sign the owner's manual and write something like "happy 75th from R.I.C." or something memorable like that.

It is a nice color combination. Since production is limited to 75 pieces, I'll go out on a limb here and speculate around $2K for the used market.

Keep in mind that the Blackstars, Rednecks, Tuxedo's, Shadow's ectt.... each where unique, but had a few more "special" details that make them collectable in my opinion.

Dont take this the wrong way. As I said, I think the 75th Anniversary model is quite stunning,,and I dont think pictures probably do it justice.

I like it - a lot. Great color combination. Not making a V68, I think RIC are celebrating the future, not the past. Too bad they are making only 75, if I owned one I'd have to keep it mint... and I need workhorse basses. But I do envy the lucky 75 who will get one.

I noticed alot of people on the other forum are starting to call this a limited edition and I have to disagree with that. I think you can call it a limited color run, but its still the same bass/guitar under the paint that the other ones are. I guess it depends on your perspective, but the special guard/TRC just barely elevates it above a sea green/blue boy, IMO of course. To collectors like me this is an important distinction.

Yea, I saw that that too and was wondering what was limited other than paint and plastic and then I realized that the "emperor had no clothes", and I'm not talking about you know who.

I still think it's a cool gesture from RIC to come up with something like this, I think that I've realized that I'm not a "color" collector, I have to have more. I backed away from a blueboy a while back when I realized this.
