How did it get the nickname ?
The proud new stepdad of Jon Camp's '74 4001 would like to know how it got the name "The Great White" ?

Are you going to try and restore it back to the way it original was when Jon created all those classic bass lines in the '70s? I was seriously thinking of bidding for it because of it's history but I backed down because it was not as I remembered it looking when I saw him play it live, which made me question it's authenticity, plus I am not keen on his mods, sorry and congratulations. Now go play Ocean Gypsy and Scheherazade.

Thanks everyone ! Jeff, I think I'll leave it alone for now; the mods are interesting. By the way, seller sent the 1984 English ads Jon put in the newspapers to sell it. I do have a question for anyone. Could Jon have had several white Ricks, this being the 2nd ? He alludes to several in his 11/97 interview with "Opening Out". Is it possible the 4001 with white headstock was retired due to wear & tear and replaced by the 1974 ?
