A few Cliff Burton pics from my mispent youth.....

Post by incubus2432 »

I finally got around to getting my "Ride the Lightning Tour" pics scanned (thanks to the Mrs.) so they won't get lost......it's only been 23-ish years. Image Some strategically placed elbows and I was pretty freakin' close. Here are three of Cliff....two with the Ric and one with his Alembic that I included since it is a cool pic.

As a side note.....my buddy from a local band "Destructor" had his Burgundy 4001 signed by Cliff earlier in the day. About 5 years later my pal was murdered and I lost track of his family and the signed Ric which, of course, would be more important to me because my friend owned it. Anyway.....

Great photos Brian. I wonder why he was using the different basses for the same show?

Excellent! I like the middle photo the best - the logo behind the band looks cool, and you can see the crazy speaker stacks! The Gibson pickup is clearly visible in that 1st pic too. I thought the Alembic was an Aria Pro in that 3rd one! Had to look twice at the logo on the headstock...

cool pics brian...any idea what songs he was using the ric on? the one in the middle looks like he might be playing anesthesia (pulling teeth)...he usually hangs his head when he's playing that one but it might just be that he was in mid-headbang when you snapped the pic.

Cool shots Brian, was that entire wall of Marshall's his?

What did you think of the sound of his set up?
I'm just happy to be here.

Gary....just the Mesa Boogie's on the outside were his IIRC. The sound was great as I remember it but it was a long time ago.

Matthew....I specifically remember the Ric pics were during Anesthesia. He primarily used the Alembic for the night.

John......I switch basses all the time just for a different vibe so I don't find it so odd.

Steve..... I've seen all the old stuff too and prefer it but my wife got front row tickets to their last stop in town and I must say it was still great.

Anyone that wants full size copies just let me know and I'll email 'em to ya'. I also have some pretty good ones of James and Kirk and a few full band shots as well.

I'll take those pics. Great shots, sad to say I didn't see Cliff live. My first time was on the Monsters of Rock tour, just after Garage Days RE-revisited came out w/ Jason.
