Elys,those pics are of the crushed mother of pearl inlays which I think were cut from sheets, not the poured pearl.

Elys, those are best replicated by rescue pearl's inlay sheets. These are crushed MOP covered in clear epoxy and trimmed to sheets. These are not poured swirly stuff.

Elys..the original MOP inlays came from 12X12 sheets, the type I do for replicas are MOP crushed from smaller pieces of MOP then put in the fingerboard similar to what Paul is doing..

Just missed you, Dane! I stopped by Pat's last Friday to drop off a P-bass neck for a headstock color. Pat does fine work. I highly recommend him, Jerry!

I was there between 1:00 and 1:30. That would have been a trip to bump into each other! Did you check out some of the colors on the bodies on his finished rack? I wanted a bass in every one of those colors...and that seafoam green was to freakin' die for!

Ha! I'll have to remember to start a thread next time I go there. Could have a mini-con there. Yes, I always check out what he's having done there at the time and Pat's usually pretty good at showing me a few items. That seafoam green was pretty nice, wasn't it?

I've had very good results using sheet MOTS for inlay
material. You can get great big sheets of .060 stuff
from Allparts.
Not as hazy as Diamondite but very nice
under an aging toner.

I'm there on occasion as well. I know Pat doesn't work with nitro laquer anymore.
What does he use to refin a vintage Rickenbacker?
Conversion Varnish?
Poly?

He's used poly for me on a Wal bass and it turned out great! He is a definite 'NO' on nitro.
