Rickenbacker Necks

Post by admin »

I would be very interested in your coments with regard to 21 fret vs. 24 fret necks. I have Rickenbackers of both types but I have to say that my preference is for the 21 fret models. I like the more vintage appearance 21 frets and the sound of the pickups is different, at least to my ear, between these two models. So what do you think?
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Peter-- I'm in total agreement with your reasons in favor of the 21 fret neck.

Peter: I really never cared much for the 24 fret necks, especially on 12 string models. With 21 fret neck it's easier to reach that last fret, compared to 24 fret neck.

21; no more, no less. And!!! think of the $$$ saved by not using all the extra fretwire!!!Or, more fretwire for more C series guitars!

21 frets, definitely. And toasters! My 1967 365 and my 381v69 are the best-looking and best-playing electrics I have, and both have 21 frets and toasters, of course! And did I mention the jingle-jangle sound?

The pickups are slightly closer together with 24 frets so there will be some small difference in sound.

Dave, perhaps that is true....but I'm trying to stretch beyond it and get out of my comfort zone a little! Most of the time I just strum along on rhythm parts....
