Brian, What are Tuxedos? Blackstars? etc...I can give you a million examples in the collectibles business of common products produced in rare variations that fetch premiums.
Most COY's fetch higher dollars, and they were not limited editions(at least when they were produced)To each his own, but when I heard 75 produced, I knew they would be hot because there are certainly more than 75 folks who would collect such an item.
I still think you have the most unusual bass Rickenbacker will ever produce in the LK. That's a special bass because of the craftmanship, as well as the limited production.

I understand the limited production aspect but, IMO, that is worth only a certain premium. $1400-ish for 4003 vs. $5700 for limited 4003, to me, is just nuts. Higher dollars for limited I understand....just not to this extreme. It's only my opinion which is worth exactly $0.00.
I figured they'd fetch a premium as well but since they didn't appeal to me I passed. I'm really not much for buying something with the intention of flipping.
For the record.....I also think that used LK prices are utterly ridiculous.

Brian, don't forget that the buyer is in the UK and here we are used to paying through the nose for everything. A basic 4003 is around $2.5k here, that is if you can find one. Generally our prices are about twice that of yours.

Edgar, that is USPS (a guess weight of 20lbs). I have used them many times. I have also used Bax Global, they are good too. Watford is one of the cheapest places to send to.

I don't do the insurance for two reasons...
1, The twice that I have tried to claim, the insurance companies wouldn't pay out on a "technicality" (example - prove it wasn't damaged before it was posted).
2, We get stung for 24% tax on the total valuation (including the shipping cost).
