Hi Folks
I am hoping to get some advice. I purchased a pair of scatterwounds to replace the Hi Gains on my 360/12. But, after thinking it over for a couple of days, I was wondering if I would be better off installing them on my 360/6? I have decided that I really like the sound of these vintage voiced pickups, but I can't afford to install them on both of my 360s at the moment (actually, I can, but my wife has me on a strict hobby budget at the moment...guess I need to buy her some diamond ear rings or soemthing). I play the six string a lot more than the 12, but I am sure that the impact of the new pickups on the sound of the 12 would be more pronounced. So...what do you think? Should they go on the 6 or the 12? Also, what is a good wattage for a soldering iron to use on this project?

Which Ric should get new pickups?

I just put scatterwounds on my 370-12 The improvement was considerable..I always felt the higains made the 12 awfully muddy...I had a 360-12 previously and it was the same thing...didnt have that jangle I was seeking...
I used a Weller 40 watt...theres no real tricky soldering involved... so its not too critical what size you use...and it takes about 4 1/2 minutse to swap them out...so whatever you decide can be changed back quickly...

Profjeff: I would install the toasters on your 360/12. I consider that you will notice the greatest difference there.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

This may cost more than I anticipated. We went to Wildwood Guitars in Louisville, CO yesterday and my wife bonded with this Taylor 900 series acoustic. I've tried to get her interested in a Rick 620 VP--it would look really sexy with the new diamonds. I'm gonna have to land a big Federal grant to afford this venture!
