Johnny Cash R.I.P

Post by lshaia »

Johnny Cash passed away today...I'm not much of a country music fan, but his music struck me as transcending the usual twang.

It's too bad that the U.S. doesn't have a "National Treasure" designation for legends like Johnny Cash and B. B. King.

I think his full impact on music has yet to be realized...pushing limits and barriers. God bless the man.

I like the old country music, but he was in a class by himself, he transcended country music, his music was Johnny Cash music, not just country music, he put his whole personality into his music, he was one of the few true originals left. It's nice he got some recognition before he died, but it wasn't enough.

I agree with Bob: I always thought of Johnny Cash as being in a category of his own.

Our local NPR station played a bunch of his stuff today. He was quite a versatile performer, even covering some Beck tunes!

John Ritter was quite a surprise.

To quote a Moody Blues song from the late 70's, 'Time waits for no one at all / No, not even you'.
I'm sorry to learn about Johnny Cash's demise. As far as I'm concerned he was a reference and and icon. Thanks for the music, Johnny.

Johnny was one of the few inducted in both, the Rock & Roll HOF and the Country Music HOF.

He will be missed.

When I got home from work this evening, my wife was sitting on the couch in tears watching a VH1 special with Johnny and Willie playing together. Neither of us were country fans but Johnny was a true original, a story teller that anyone could understand. After Johnny's wife passed away recently, she said it probably wouldn't be too long before he joined her because the two were so much of a thing. rest in peace June and Johnny....

I think he knew his time was coming, he threw himself into his work, especially after his wife died.
