A local (Colorado Springs) builder has been getting some good press lately. I've seen the ukes in their shop and they are beautiful. Way outta my price range:

I've been playing around since Christmas with a Flea soprano uke from Flea Market Music, and it's a blast. Plastic bowl back, wood top, plastic fretboard, nice Grover uke tuners, made in USA.

If you are not in a big hurry, I build Ukuleles using figured Koa and Rosewood for the F.B. and bridge. Price range starts at $500.00 up to $1,200.00 for the Concert size with all the frills. my-dog-has-fleas... Dale @ Fortune Guitars

Dale, can you do checkered binding and crushed pearl inlays on those ukes?

My Dog Has Fleas....

Could that be a reference to the long lived and sorely missed "Boy Meets World" ?

You know Karl, I really could and I think the next one I build will be a full on "ElectroLeLe" with all that. It would look so good with all those options..I'll make a project on the Forums of this..Thanks for the great idea! Building an Ukulele is much like building an Acoustic Guitar only downsized. One neat thing about playing an Ukulele, it goes right with guitar chords. There's a cool web site: Beatles on Ukulele..I've got the link, I will look it up and post it later...Fun to play songs

For Uke and Beatle's fans -- you've probably all seen this, but worth every chance to watch and listen:
