You're right Jim! A nice Fireglo at that.

So, I'm guessing there is a bit of a P-bass vibe?

They do have kind of a P bass vibe...until they're cut up and made into doublenecks or something..Image

Yes. Definitely your signature Rick clank, with some classic P-Bass overtones. "Angry Precision!"

Angry Precision - that's sometimes the vibe I get from my Laredo.

If/when I might be able to afford/want another bass a 3001 seems like something I should consider.

Is the 3000 is a short scale?

Hi Ed, the 3000 has a 30 inch scale length, whereas the 3001 has a 33.25 inch scale length. You can see teh differences in an advert posted earlier in this topic. Cheers Mark (and thanks all for the compliments - the bass looks even better in natural light without my greasy fingerprints over it!)

Sorry for the bad pix - I'm almost as bad of a bass player than I am a photographer!

Beautiful FireGlo restoration, Mark. And really nice flame on yours Chris. Something about walnut on a Rick!

Hi Dave, and welcome to the Forum. 3000 model basses are pretty rare, comparatively. But they do pop up on our Ricks for Sale department once in a while. They stopped making the short-scale 3000 in 1984, so what you'll find will be used.
