I submitted two tunes - not sure which one if either will be on the CD, but for the record, the first tune is a guitarless version of Throwaway which is currently on my Myspace page. The instrumentation is vocals, drums, and the 1968 4001 bass, and there's a bass solo replacing the guitar solo.
The 2nd tune I submitted is called The Gift, and once again, no guitars, but this time four basses:
The '68 4001 on a double-tracked line w/ delay,
'79 4001V63 - through thick distortion played with a volume swell technique to emulate cello sounds,
'79 4001SLH - on the intro and outro hook, also through delay,
and '76 4001FL - double tracked for an intermittent harmonised riff.

I have several favourites, with 'The Gift' being one of them! There are some great songs & playing that you will all hear very soon.
Not singling anybody out, but there is everything from Melissa's heart felt sentiments, Alishas lovely, haunting tune, JDogs humour (one of the more 'unusual' submissions), some GREAT bass playing & also some great bands. There's jangle, growling & snarling....some unusual Rics on offer & a nice mixture of home recorded & studio offerings.
Every single song has merit & I admire you all.

'Rickenbacker'...what a name! After all these years, it still thrills me.

It is going to be so much fun to hear this CD! I already have a "Rickenfriends" playlist built for my MP3 player, and I will immediately add the songs from the CD to it when I get it. Wow, even when I'm away from the computer I'll be able to take a slice of the Forum with me anywhere, anytime.... Cool!

Sorry it's gone quiet....my 3 days in the studio has turned into 6 1/2 days & a race against time to finish the project.
Typical...I'm supposed to be on holiday this week, but with studio dates tomorrow & Friday & gigs on Friday & Saturday, it's turning into a great holliday!!
