I bought an Epiphone Dot Studio last May, and so far I really like it. It's my first Epiphone after a lifetime of Rickenbacker and Gretsch and Vox instruments. For two hundred dollars new, I couldn't very well pass it up. Now I have to remember how to play on only six strings...

An odd thing; a recent break-in cost me my Gretsch Tennessean, my Rickenbacker 620/12, my Alvarez 12-string acoustic, and my Hohner Classical. The thieves missed or ignored my Ovation Celebrity and my Rickenbacker 4005 bass. They picked up the Epiphone, though, and dropped it again in the hallway, so I still have it. Unfortunately the police could find no usable prints.

I have a (rare-ish) 1992 Epiphone "Nashville Series" Riviera with factory bigsby. These were a toe-in-the-water for Gibson, with 250 Rivieras and 250 Sheratons, made in the USA.

It's killer. Neck is very beefy and great to play. Has endless sustain with the mini humbuckers. Dialing the tone back gives the standard humbucker sounds (but not the drive).

If you can find one, buy it!

As everyone can see, I tend to go for the natural wood look.

Those Dots, Stephen, are made at Epiphone's new own factory in China.
Somewhere in this topic, way back, you'll find a link to a slideshow I posted of the new factory.

You're right, for $200 it is an amazing guitar.

I don't have the Studio one (I have the regular 335-like one, step above this), but I did a pickup swap on mine - Duncan Seth Lover PAF at the bridge, Duncan Phat Cat P-90 at the neck. Incredibly versatile and sounds real good!

I also added a genuine Bigsby B7.
