Hi,
guess this topic has nothing to do with Rickenbackers, but it would be nice to find out what people think about the story...
As the story goes, the Tractors, a band from Tulsa, hit the charts in 1994. They were neither handsome nor young. They played music that was kind of old-fashioned. Almost no publicity - their official website only tells about Steve Ripley and mentions Walter Richmond a couple of times, nothing about the others (by the way, does anybody know who are the others?). But they did it...
A funny story, isn't it?
The Tractors - a strange story in show business?

Nothing will get you dead quicker than being deadly serious about yourself.
The Tractors are Steve Ripley and a revolving cast of well known studio musicians, people like Leon Russell and James Burton. The type of music they play is usually just called Americana these days. Old fashioned roots music. There are plenty of others who have been doing it far longer...Ray Wylie Hubbard comes to mind. What's unusual about the Tractors is that they have actually had some success in the "country music" field, since that's now dominated by sappy pop music.
