Since many of these bands are very sixties-influenced, they seem to sport Rics more than musicians in most rock genres these days, so here's a thread on the subject ...

Last night I saw this band (major eye candy alert, guys!) from Portland at the Hemlock Tavern in SF:

The pictures section on the website has a shot of the headstock of the singer/guitarist's 600-something (w/vintage pu's & knobs, so I'm not sure of the model # ... can someone here make an ID?)

That looks like a 450 or 460, the moving pic of her playing makes it kind of hard to tell which it is.

Looks like a 450 to me. The pictures section had a good shot of it along with the player's extended index finger.

Your digital analysis led to the right conclusion Richard. It surely is a Model 450. But what about the pickups?

When I saw them onstage, the pickups looked like toasters to me. Could the guitar be one of the 450v63's from a few years back (I should've stuck around and asked her after the show)? The knobs & toasters match the one pictured on Mike Parks' Rickenbacker page.

Latest installment: Muck And The Mires, from Boston. Apparently they won the battle-of-the-bands sponsored by the Steven V.Z. radio show, and sold all the ****** equipment that they won to finance the tour (I saw them at Thee Parkside in SF). Lead singer / rhythm guitarist plays a 325, although it wasn't very loud (which was good, because, as frequently happens with 325's, it was considerably out-of-tune at some points). Good rockin' 60s stuff, and bonus points for having the female drummer sing the encore of "Boys" while the boys in the band did all the "bop shoo wop"s.
