Harry...That is pure EXPLOITATION showing us a pic like that! Just for that, I'll take the bass to the right.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

Sorry Marc, that's my "you can have it when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers" bass!

Umm, good thing I don't have my city of residence in my profile anymore. I might have to sharpen the points on the Exploiter for protection!

The only thing I don't like about the Exploiter is that you have to be careful playing it around the house - I've bumped into door-jams a few times and dented the finish...

When I had my Exploiter I had it turned into a fretless bass and changed out the stock Spoiler electronics for a VPT with Q switch (I just can't leave anything alone! Image)and put the Spoiler electronics in a box to use as an outboard preamp . Worked great; I eventually sold the preamp. I traded the Exploiter and a Persuader, that I also put the same type of electronics in, at GC for my first Zon Sonus Special 5 bass.

Took a new picture of my Exploiter:

I've been playing this bass a lot again recently. Had it strung piccolo for a while, but for now I've put regular strings back on it. Thinking about stringing it up with a modified cello tuning - 5ths but starting on a low D, so DAEB. It was uncomfortable to play at first - the way it hangs, the neck is further out to the left, but lowering the strap a bit seems to be helping.

Nice Exploiter!

The one I had with a flame koa top became a fretless while in my possesion! Plus different electronics (VPT).

Jeffrey, I keep meaning to ask - what does VPT mean? Do you have any pictures of it?

Volume - Pan - Tone filter. Actually, I think Alembic's term is VPF. No pics, I sold it long before I even thought about photographing it.

That makes sense! I just couldn't think of it myself - maybe because I'm more of a "pickup selector switch" kind of guy myself...
