Yep..1st board was a Paul Hunt couple years later got a Dewey Weber (should have kept that one)...get a few shark attacks at Goat Rock yearly and south at Bolinas which has a good break. Learned to surf at Cabrillo in San Pedro but surfed mostly at Bolsa Chica, Huntington Cliffs, Oceanside and Moonlight Beach...body surfed the Wedge a few times when I had a death wish..mostly a sponger now as we have a world class beach (Doran) for that when the swell is right... Most of the 60's Surf standards : Miserlou, Pipeline, Mr Moto, Surf Rider, Penetration, Moon Dawg, Baja, Latinia....ist surf band was Rip Curl 1963/64..now w/Paul and the boys, we're back in the curl...surf's up dude!

Hang Ten and Shoot the Curl Gremmie...La'Tinia is my all time favorite. Our Surf Band used to open for bands like the "Lively Ones" and " Eddie and the Showmen" I do miss those days at the Rendezvous Ball Room.. Never got to open for the Deltones, but we sure hung out there a lot on weekends. OBTW I still have my Dewey Weber Performer..10ft. with a red hatchet fin. I use it when I go on surfin' safaris to "Californ i a"

What's her name...just kidding....San Gabriel Valley is more like Alhambra, Monterey Park, El Monte, San Gabriel...my folks had a biz in East Los Angeles so I ended up surfing by day and often hanging w/low-riders evenings on Whitter Blvd...

The Rec Center at Barnes Park...at that time, The Surfaris and The Lively Ones pretty much traded off Sat gigs...Dick Dale even played there once. Also saw vocal groups there like The Rivingtons, Shirells..and others. Did you ever go there Andrew..did you tape out set..I hope not!

I've been to Barnes Park a few times; but rest easy, George... no tape exists to blackmail you. ;-)

Whew...hah..did you live in the area Andrew..what years? Funny thing is you find old surf recordings of any kind and they go for big bucks..I've sold some. I sometimes think of recording a rehearsal on a reel to reel and ...nah..bad karma!

Really never went very often to the south bay etc. Huntington more than anywhere..the cliffs, the pier and Bolsa. Overnights to Moonlight or Swamies...know there are good breaks at the places you mention...
