Experimental Instruments
I may be severely beaten for this, but I found a nice inexpensive brand of bass to experiment with. My first one will be to put the EBO pup in a jazz. To see what a $100 bass can become, check out this thread. Just scroll down the page until you see the black bass. It is SWEET! IMHO, it is better to experiment on these, and once in a while, you will end up better off for it!

Eric has done a marvelous job on that, and his quality of work is fine. Sound with the preamp? I'm hoping "thunderous".

Charly,
I have 2 SX basses.
I bought a SX SPB-57 a few years ago so if I went out on realy bad nights to play I didnt have to take the Ric. it is ok but I just got a SX jazz copy of a 75 Fender. I have to say I am lovin this thing. they put out a nice inexpensive bass that sounds and feels pretty damn good for its cost.
the only thing I am going to do to the Jazz is put on a BAII bridge/7350 strings and maybe a set of fender vintage pups

Looks good; I wonder how a gold or copper-anodized aluminum guard would look. MOTS is so 2005...
Look at the photo at the bottom of page 4...the closeup of the battery box. The finish of the bass definitely has an olive green cast to the black when seen against the black molded plastic of the box. Interesting, no?

Hey, Eric618 from TB here. Wow. Thanks so much for the compliment! It's much appreciated. I certainly can compare this bass to my custom Conklin on some levels. I put up a new thread with higher res pictures if anyone is interested. It can be found here...jingle_jangle wrote:Eric has done a marvelous job on that, and his quality of work is fine.
