Cindy Lauper On Letterman
At least I think it was Cindy Lauper. The bass player was playing what appeared to be a Chris Squire model. Anyone see this last night on David Letterman?
Yeah...
...couldn't quite tell because there was never a decent camera shot of the bassist... and also because the bass had so many stickers and things stuck all over it. All you could really see was that it was a 4001s, with the dark wings on the headstock.
Also, was it my imagination or was that a female bassist? The Rick looked huge against them!

My first bass was a Rickenbacker...
My best bass is a Rickenbacker...
My last bass may very well be a Rickenbacker

Miss Lauper's bassist should have been W. Wittman from the Voxtalks site. Check out this current thread:

Yes i didn't get much camera time, but the LAST time i played Letterman (playing a 360-12v64) i got LOTS of time, so one cannot complain.
Yes, it's a 4001CS which was triggering a Roland V-Bass (although i doubt you could see the ROland pick-up taped on between the bridge and the horsehoe pick-up).
Behind me was a Hiwatt Custom 100 head on a Vox Foundation cab as well.
The stickers are there because a) i HAD to cover the compeltely embarrassing Squire signature (a player i never liked in the slightest anyway) and b) because i like having at least a little healthy disrespect for instruments... and it makes them PERSONAL.
At least i didn't rip off the original bridge and tailpiece and put a Bigsby on (speaking of disrespect) <g>
We do The View this Monday i think, for those curious.

What happened was: i was producing a record with a band and the bass player came in with his brand new Squire Rickenbacker.
i was, to say the least, sceptical, but it actually sounded REALLY good and then i picked it up to play it and it also FELT really good.
So i looked around for one and found one to buy.
Simple as that.
I do like the off-white colour and it really feels great.. one of the best neck feels of any Rickenbacker i've played.
too bad about the signature, but... easily fixed with a well placed "Trimix" sticker.
Do the v63's have the exact same neck shape? I thought not.
