Hohner G3T and B2ADB

Post by philco »

I'm looking for some decent stablemates at a fairly low price for my 650D and 4004L. Hohner uses genuine Steinberger parts in their Steinberger copies (unlike the "Spirit by Steinberger" line that MusicYo is hawking on unsuspecting folks), and are much better guitars, according to reviews I have read, for not much more money. I can get a new G3T guitar for $350 and a new B2ADB bass for $400. I'm looking at a few used copies on eBay as well. I think I would like the sound of wood better than graphite anyway, and the Hohners have adjustable truss rods unlike the graphite Steinbergers. There are also a few Hohner Jack Basses for sale on eBay. They sort of look like the Steinberger with wood body that I saw Bill Wyman using in an early 90's Stones concert DVD.

Anybody here familiar with the Hohners? I can't see paying extra for used Steinbergers or new LSR custom copies from Ed Roman. There is a nice looking Hohner B2B (P&J pickup variation with bolt-on neck) with Seymour Duncans on eBay as well.

I especially like the B2ADB as it has active/passive EMG pickups and the Steinberger DB tuner that sort of eliminates the need for a 5-string bass. There is a B2AV 5-string version as well on eBay for a few bucks more. The G3T has a Steinberger D trem which is better than a Floyd Rose even.
