Howdy,

Kevin, Miles? I hope ya'll had a grreat Christmas with your lovely new Rickenbackers. Now with that out of the way, I'd like to say that I'm becoming a bit impatient. That's right, impatient. So far neither of you have seen fit to even post your impressions or a review!
C'Mon guys, get on the stick. (I played my 330 though an old Deluxe (w/ a Weber AlNiCo speaker) and yes, she rocked, btw.) Let's see some reviews after you've had a week or so. Again, congrats on those new Ricks. :)

Sorry, I've been busy fixing two delay pedals. One was a Boss DD-3, and the other an old MXR Time Delay. Had to retrofit a different delay chip on the MXR, but it actually works now ;) Anyway, here are my impressions ordered by pro and con:

PROS:
Great player! Balance is good, and the fretboard is very comfortable. It takes a little effort compared to my Dot (current #1) to keep from slipping off the strings on bends. Zero fret buzz and great action. Easy to play without full use of the pickguard. (I've seen a lot of people carelessly bang away on their guard, but personally I prefer to play the strings.) It seems that the Rick demands a bit more precision, but it rewards with great tone on every string. Even though it isn't a 12-string, Turn Turn Turn sounds really nice. I think I would like to change the G string to a lighter gauge. I think it must be a 0.020, because all of my other electrics have 0.017s there.

I made a small box to break out the Ric-O-Sound and did some test recordings. I plan to use this more in the future as needed. Very nice feature for direct in or multi-amp recording. I may not use it that much, but it's great to have it as a factory built option.

The finish is beautiful! You can see the wood features, but mainly on the headstock. I can't say grain since it looks more like joins. So, it isn't smooth all the way. The body is smooth, however. I keep the polishing cloth at it after every session.

CONS:
It is my only completely single-coil guitar, so the hum is significant compared to the Dot. This probably has more to do with 2 computers being in the same room than anything. Also, the output level is pretty low by comparison to my HB guitars. The nut binds, but only on the D string. When it came, the end of the outer box was open, so I kind of wonder if the case and guitar slipped out during shipping (and how far). Not Rick's fault at all.

---
I was worried that I might have to sell this to make rent in a couple of months. I'm currently working contract jobs and one-offs doing IT consulting, and December has been slow. But, this definitely won't be the first thing to go. I wish I had bought a couple of them in hindsight considering the price increase. I've seen one on Craigslist for $200 more than MF's old non-discounted price. Their new price is about $900 more than it was 2 weeks ago.

Geez! Steve, what happens in this circumstance????

Great to see it's working out for you Miles.
Mine is really been a dream to play. I had to tweek the truss rod a touch but it was in the display case in the store. The action as fabulous. Coming from a long run with Teles the noise to me is actually quite a bit quieter. The tone of the neck pickup is the best thing to me. Absolutely love the 360's now. To tell you the truth this is the first 360 unbound front Rick I've owned and I'm really starting to like it alot. I have owned a couple 330's, a PT (can't believe I sold that one), and a 360V64 double bound. The rounded front up where my forearm rests is quite comfortable.
I haven't had a chance to try the Rick-O-Sound yet. But the tone of the pickups sounds fantastic through a Blackface Deluxe.

So late last night after playing it for quite some time I decided to give my fingers a rest and really look it over. I'm very impressed with the fit and finish. The frets are nicely crowned and I have the action low now and it plays with great ease. I incidently have a 17 as my third string and it bends easily with the low action. What really impresses me is the sound of the guitar unplugged - I mean they should have put a piezo pickup in the guitar.
I tell you I may sway to the 360 camp from the 330's as this guitar has really got me going.
Cheers and Happy New Year to all tonight!

My new 360 JG is just plain awesome. Ran her through the Deluxe hard today. Great blues tone. This is the guitar.
I don't think I could be happier with a guitar purchase. GREAT JOB RICKENBACKER!

So Miles - Hows that new 360 treating you?
Smokin' I bet... The JG with the white binding is really something. I've had so many people comment on how great the guitar looks and sounds.

My new 330 has a hard act to follow - still waiting for it to aclimate to open her up.
...went in to buy a 52' Tele and walked out with a 360 Jetglo...
