Re: Midnight Oil
It's a 4001 (sounds of raucous applause) - it appears to have binding and triangular inlays, so it's not a 4001s. Neck pickup placement means early '75 at the latest. As the neck pick-up is a hi-gain (or my monitor resolution is crummy), that suggests late '73 as the earliest. Finish looks like FG to me.longboard_ric wrote: I could go on but did anyone figure out which bass it actually was?????

I wouldn't recommend that. Even if Oz police are nicer than those here in Amurka, it still is not a fun experience.I've got to get arrested at least once before I die.
But listening to Midnight Oil is.
I used "It's better to die on your feet than live on your knees" on my test over Thoreau's Walden a few months ago. Hopefully some kids checked it out.
So what was the bass then?

Re: Midnight Oil
I don't know the answer to that one for sure, but I do know for certain that the Australian Federal Court has "joined the dots" (to borrow a phrase) on the Port Phillip Bay issue here in Aus, and has agreed with Peter Garrets' decision to approve the dredging of the bay.danomar wrote:So what was the bass then?
I guess the "Blue Wedges Coalition" (the group heading those opposed to the dredging and the minister's decision) will be burning the midnight oil on that one in the coming months.
Oh, not my opinion of course, Justice Heeley's.

Re: Midnight Oil
Im not sure if this was released in the States, or O.S. for that matter, but here's a link to a must have DVD for anyone interested in the Oils. http://shop.abc.net.au/browse/product.a ... tid=725684 . Have a listen to the audio samples....
Features the "oils on the water" gig, filmed when they did a show for radio JJJ/ABC TV on an island on Sydney Harbour. Early 1985 it think, around the time "Red Sails..." was released. Amazing footage of a band at the height of their powers. Martin Rotsey gets his 360/12 out for a couple of tunes, and it sounds great on Short Memory. I could go on a rant about how good this is, but probably best you all check it out yourselves.
Also features footage of a show at Sydneys Capitol Theatre from 1981.
