Yes, most of them are rather large. Mine are an older model, the SMGa:

Mitch, Congrats on your new purchase from a fellow Minnesotan! If I were you I'd wait the full 48 hours before opening at this time of year.... About 4 years back I remember getting my Turquoise 325V59 delivered when it was -20 degrees outside. The long wait before opening it was agonizing, but it was well worth keeping my peace of mind with regards to finish checking....

BTW, I was very near to your part of the state a couple of days ago--my hubby and I were checking out some houses in the Woodbury area, as we are finding our lovely little town to be a bit too remote, especially in the middle of winter! And if you think it gets cold down there you should see what we've got to deal with up here!

Thanks alot Melibee!Well,I only got another 15 hours to go so I will make it.The weather in Woodbury will feel balmy compared to what you are used to.I've never been that far north as Grand Marais but I have heard all about it from my girlfriend(she grew up in Duluth).

This is killing me...I've been kind of drooling over the JG 330's for some time.
I'm real curious to find out how it turns out for you. I've got a 330 AFG on its' way to me. The JG 's are real cool though.
If mine turns out real nice I may swop my 360JG for a 330 JG. The 360 JG is really nice.
Waiting...waiting...waiting.... :(
...went in to buy a 52' Tele and walked out with a 360 Jetglo...

At least you bought it from a real dealer so the strings were probably not under tension during shipping.

I have doubts ebayers know they are supposed to do this though.

I think it's been stated by authorities here that strings on Ricks should NOT be detuned for shipping.... right?

Mine came in a still sealed box factory box and it was pretty much in tune when I opened the case.

That's weird. A guitar in tune puts a lot of pressure on the neck. If there's temperature changes, it can get worse. What is the reason that they should be kept in tune?

As far as I understand, the guitars are made to have the tension on the neck--if you detune them for transportation, the neck can develop a back bow as the wood compensates for the lack of string tension.
