Best sound combo

Went to several guitar stores today with the son. Tries various amps,guitars etc...

The sound I can't get out of my head was the combination of a custom tele and vintage Marshall combo amp. Had that crunch....

A guitarist I knew in the '70s had a Marshall combo amp, the one that is now called the Bluesbreaker reissue. Great tone and it could get quite loud for a small 30-45 (?) watt 2-12 combo amp.

Nothing beats a good tube amp. My personal favorites are Fender, Vox and Marshall.

Marc, the one to check out is the JTM45 reissue which I believe they list as the 2245; it's that tone from back in the day. Thirty watts of crunching Brit tone and through a 4x12 cab is flat out evil. This is also the head in the "Bluesbreaker" 2x12 combo that Jeff mentioned. Nice clean headroom and will drive those tubes like mad as you jack the volume toward being dimed. Bridge both channels together and you've got every rock tone from the '60s and '70s at your disposal - my personal favorite amp that they make. I had an early '90s JTM 45 Bluesbreaker and it smoked, especially with the upgrade to KT66s and a pair of Greenbacks.
