Newsweek article on The Blues
Re: Newsweek article on The Blues
That's an interesting article in that it exposes the view of two races, who at the time lived in segregation and it reads to me at least, as if the writer took a snapshot at a particular moment in time. I am a huge fan of the blues but I don't subscribe to the presumably historically correct notions which are the focus of this article.
My understanding and love of the blues started with a feeling deep inside that is hard to rationalize and express. It is something that has shaped my love of music. It constantly reminds me who I am and where I am going. Sadness and having an unfortunate lot in life is not just the domain of the poor. I personally know many "rich" folk who have not found any reason to have joy in their life.
