Goodbye little Peavey... Hello Voxy!

Post by Razor »

I traded my trusty little Peavey Classic 20 (which I bought new and have owned for the past 15 years) for a Vox AC30CC this week...

Out with the trusty little old Peavey... :(

...in with the new AC30 :D :D - all I need to do now is use it - pity the neighbours!! :D :D

BTW the FX Unit you can see it a Line 6 Pod XT Live, which was fine with the Peavey, not sure how it'll sit with the Vox :? - only time will tell I suppose!

Nice Score Tony,
So, did you plug in the Rick(s) yet!
What do you think of the Reverb on the Custom Classic?
Enjoy! 8)

Yes I've plugged n the 330 but didn't get chance to have much of a play unfortunately. When I get a bit more time I'll give it a blast and let you know. I haven't had chance to really try out the reverb nor indeed the tremolo, so again I'll have to report back! Most of the reviews I've read say the tremolo speed is too slow and the reverb is rather weak - what do you think?

I'm not all that crazy about the Vox tremolo either. I've thought about taking the amp to my local amp whiz technician to have the trremolo converted to a Fender style tremolo, if such a conversion is possible. Anyone ever done this?

The Reverb is cool, though more complicated to dial in than a Fender type reverb.

As far as Trem I love Fender Blackface Tremelo but the Reverb on the AC 30 CC is really cool. Depth and tone is great in the studio. I tend to mix much more subtle live.
I had a VoxAC 30 CC with 2 12 Celestion Blues and really liked it but it was a beast to lug around. The 1 12 is probably a bit more friendly.
Nothing like a Vox and a Rick. I actually have EL 84's with a Celestion Blue in My BF Deluxe Reverb Clone (sort of American Deluxe meets British AC 15 with tad more mids).

I think you may like the Reverb. If you can push the CC the tone is really cool when turned up for Blues-Rock. You can run both channels and mix them - kind a cool 8)
