Re using a 230 for bass, I know that some of the old Acoustic guitar amps and bass amps were the same amps, just with some additional bells and whistles on the guitar version---for instance, the 140 (bass) and 150 (guitar) are exactly the same amp except that one channel on the 150 has reverb and tremolo. The 230 looks like it may well be the same---it's very, very similar to the 220 bass head, except the 230 has reverb and a "gain-compensated" master volume, whereas the 220 has a "power boost" switch. But the basic amps look the same, and based on the blurry pictures I could see it looks like the graphic EQ bands are the same.

I would expect the 230 to sound good for bass, anyway.

Unfortunately, most of the old Acoustic heads were not fitted with a headphone jack. One of my former band mates found this old picture from a rehearsal in the 70's the other day. The cabinet is a Sunn 118 VH folded horn with a monster 18" Cerwin Vega in it. Gee, I wonder why I have Tinnitus these days?
