Please?
I had a pretty cool "proud moment" a couple days ago. And it was more along the lines of being proud of my 8 year old boy being proud of someone else. He was playing "restaurant" in the sand box with a neighbor kid. I wasn't paying much attention to the conversation, but I caught one comment out of nowhere: "No, I want to do it like my great grandma did. She would buy a burrito from Taco Bell, take it home, tear it apart, and buy the ingredients to make them for her kids."

Well, the story goes that she was a cafeteria manager for a high school for squillions of years. And that's exactly what she would do, go and buy some kind of fast food kids liked, analyze the ingredients, and figure out how to make it better for her "kids" at school. Apparently he latched on to the story somewhere in my rantings at home and was pretty proud of his great grandma.

Guess I better clean up my language...he really does listen!

Three hours oughta be plenty of time to tie the folks up and force a credit card number out of one of them...

Ahhhh, the tricks and skills of parenting. One day, you too shall know the joys of the subtle chain yank of your spawn. 8)

Don't have any kids yet but I could add some nice things about my folks. I know a lot of kids griped about their parents, but I really never had anything bad to say about them. It was fair play growing up and a good balance of all things. I appreciate them more now than I ever have...

This reminds me of the scene in The Big Lebowski when The Dude and Walter are talking and Donny comes up, trying to find out about the rug and Walter goes off on him. "You're out of your element!" (I won't finish the quote) Jake, I see it's still here this morning. If they're watching a movie, leave 'em be. If I have 2 hours to sit down and watch a movie without interruption, then the last thing that I want to do is get up, much less make a large purchase. It's only making your case worse. Just be content with the new amp for the moment, if that does come today.

Also, you may have blown a lot of your credit with them on this school year. If so, you've only got about 2 1/2 months left to re-build. That's not much time, but it's enough to prove that you can sustain the presumed level of productivity that you had over this past week.

Speaking of movies (see last post), I call dibs on this idea as a sequel to A Christmas Story. I've even got the song for the opening: Tom Petty's "Christmas All Over Again"...
