Neck "cracked a bit"

Post by jwargowski »

Paul,

It may be hard to determine from the pictures, but what do you think the extent of "a bit" is?

I'm interested in this one at even twice the price ... should I be?

Thanks,

The closeup shows a headstock/volute crack that seems not to have been closed up properly, if it was repaired. Hard from the photo to tell if it's solid...too bad it was fixed so poorly. It is possible to fix this undetectably, but it has already been bodged. Still, the crack should be filled and sanded and will probably be OK. Minus the crack, this could be a $4-5K instrument...can't really say where it should end up, due to the damage.

Thanks Paul,

If it doesn't get too out of hand I think I'll go for it, then send it up your way ... I know, just what you wanted ... another project.

Actually, I think it's more of a burden on the one who then waits ... but the end product is really worth it! :)

Gary, I'd be lying if I didn't say that keeping a lot of projects in the air and on the docket wasn't stressful...
