Marc, congratulations on the bass!

I think, I hope- in person it'll be better than you expect. I thought hard about going for that, being a mapleglo maniac, but no way can I justify another bass, even to myself. And I only have 3 Rics.

Glad to see it went to one of "us" and especially you who will appreciate and use it.

Marc congratulations! Remember you only over paid if it wasn't worth it to you... screw it - it is only money. Your money - do with it as you wish. When it comes in, do a little set-up and then play the hell out of it!

I, technically, overpaid for my 72 that I just bought (i think it's a 72) and I'm pretty happy about it because it's everything I had hoped it would be. I had given up on finding a pre 73 all together - priced out/dried up. This one popped up and I would have done almost anything to get it. I've had a few but they all lacked strong enough E strings for my gigs - this one KILLS and has all the goodies. Overpaid is definitely a relative term. Enjoy that bass!

What is overpaid anyway?
The market for these things as started
to reflect their rarity.
That and, if you enjoy it, what does it matter?
Also- the way things seem to be going with these,
in a year, you won't have over paid at all.

I just checked that link. This could explain the 'oily' ring around the bass. Let us know if it smells a little strange when it arrives...

Congratulations again - And Marc, if it for any reason doesn't appeal to you, I'll take it off your hands.
I do need a mapleglo '72.
Yes, I do.

Huh, I thought I posted this Friday?! I think the "ring around the collar" is from the binding actually having been repaired and then a new sealing coat of probably nitro added to just cover around the binding area.

From the ad:
"The only real noticeable flaw is the binding has cracked in a couple of places from age but surely could be fixed to pristine condition."
