is this pickup complete? correct?

Post by prismacolor2 »

This looks fishy to me but I am no expert. What is right/wrong about this pickup?
I am looking for an original high gain for my 71/72 4001. Would this be it?

This PU is correct for late 68 through early '70.
It is all there. Your bass would have had a bright
green bobbin that is a little more punchy(they're usually 7.5ohms).

No fishy here. The seller is a forumite of indefatigable good form.

Yup, one of our own.

And just for the record, the windings are 6k ohms for the one on the 'bay, and John meant 7.5k ohms. All Rick pickups are in the kilo ohm range, usually from 5,000 (5k) to 15,000 (15k) or so ohms.

is that a good reading for this pickup? I am trying to get my head around the $500.00. Not likely to see one again soon. Thanks for all the info - you guys rock!

Yeah, I'm not in a financial position to buy it right now so the RI HS stays put. Selling the Box back NOS grovers would get me closer but who knows if I'd have the cash when another correct pickup was available - i was hoping to trade the Grovers to a Rick bass enthusiast for parts i need for my 4001.

I see DP did scarf it up. Oh, Steven, that is a correct reading for that era bridge pickup - 6k ohms.

These are low output, but that's a real one for sure. Very scarce indeed...

Congrats DP...

:D

I've been looking for one to complete my 72 for time now. It is the only one that I ever saw for sale.
