YES 40th anniversary tour

Hi Jim,
Very dissappointing about Jons health.
During all those years I had no idea that Jon suffered from asthma.
As an asthma sufferer myself I have been fortunate enough to keep very active due to my day job which keeps the breathing strong and the asthma under control. I dont know the background to Jons condition but if he isnt keeping up a fitness regime when not touring he may have left himself open to catching a chest infection. When you have asthma and get a cold on the chest its much more serious than it is for a non asthma sufferer and as you get older complications can occur more easily. Working outdoors like I do in all weathers and getting dirty etc. gets the immune system up and running. Jon probably leads a quiet life when not out on the road and any bugs going round dont get you. Mixing with lots of people all of a sudden (ie; rehearsing a tour etc.)and you catch anything thats going a bit like when the kids bring home every ailment known to man from school and suddenly dad is bed ridden with flu!
Fortunately for Jon treatment is way better than it was several years ago and as far as I know the lungs are pretty good at repairing themselves but serious chest infections can take ages to clear and as you get older as in Jons case age is a major factor here.
Knowing how **** you feel (you think its the end even when you get the flu!) in that state,my heart goes out to him.
All power to the guy I hope he recovers soon.

Whilst on the subject of comparing cancelled tour stories....
My brother and I had front centre circle seats booked overlooking the stage at Manchester Free Trade Hall for the 1972? Frank Zappa tour.
He got pulled off the stage at the Royal Albert Hall by some nut who thought Frank was eyeing up his girlfriend and nearly died from the fall.The
tour was cancelled and unfortunately fate conspired to prevent me from ever seeing Frank play live...now THATS a bummer!

I just got my cancellation email. Sorry to hear that and I wish Jon the best. This would have been the first concert that I went to with my wife in a long time. She was getting bummed that it was always me and the boys going!

My big cancellation story...

I was a serious Deadhead in high school (~1981). I live in Massachusetts and found out the Dead, Allman Bros and Marshall Tucker Band were doing a concert at the Tangerine Bowl in Orlando FL. It was advertised in Rolling Stone for months. We got our tickets early, and piled into one guy's Suburban with no luxuries except a very loud stereo. We drove all the way down there, got to the Stadium and found out the show was cancelled. There were maybe 10 other people that we met down there who had also come from all over the country. What a bummer!!

It was still quite a trip in more ways than one. We slept in rest stops, getting bit by sand fleas, drank cheap beer (Mickey Big Mouths...remember those??) and even went to Disney one evening.

Sorry to hear that Pete. I saw Zappa in '72 here in NE Ohio, a double bill with The Mahavishnu Orchestra opening for Frank.

Are you sure it was beer? It is dark in there you know, and safelights make all kinds of liquids look alike.

After only three of those that early in the morning, I was lit during my second hour English class.
I got straight A's in that class too!

'Tis a sad day....

I'm driving back down to Miami (about a 1.5 to 2hr ride) to the Hard Rock Casino to return my YES tickets. I called them and they said to get a refund, they have to be returned to "place of purchase".

I really hate having to surrender them, it but saving $500.00 worth of useless YES tickets isn't a wise move either. It's kind of like, FINAL CONFIRMATION...SURRENDER YOUR YES TICKETS....

Funny thing, today being Friday the 13th, Janey said "I'll play some slots, we just might hit the BIG ONE"... they have some autographed YES memorbilia there hanging on the walls, so I might be able to walk away with if she hits it REALLY BIG!

If you paid for the tix with a credit card, you could have just called your card co. and told them to charge it back after showing them proof it was indeed cancelled. Ticket Master is crediting me AND I get to keep the unused tix.

I say they should let Jon rest for a bit, call up Trever Horn, and tour on Drama. Trever can also cover some of the other Yes material, I'm pretty sure. I know it probably will never happen, but I'd love to see some of that stuff performed live.

Brian, I believe that Trevor Horn still has nightmares from that 1980 tour, or so he says! How about reviving the "More Drama Tour' and put Chris at the lead Mic? I'd go to that concert!

I wouldn't mind seeing Tervor Rabin singing some of his more favorite Yes tunes. Hey I know How abour another union tour they can call it the Re-union tour ?
