Twin brothers from different mothers
Thought you'd like to see some pairings I shot at the RIO last weekend. First up is a rare pair of Sea Green basses, my 4003 and Steve Woods' 4001V63:
Then a couple of BlueBursts, Jim Boyle's 4003 and Steve Woods' 4004Cii:

And here are two different cuts of the ultra rare 4004LK "Lemmy," belonging to Brian Crisman (left) and Steve Woods:
And then the almost unique (?) "Mink" twins refinished by Paul Wilczynski, Jeff Thomas' former white BT (left) and my former '72 MG:

Paul, great idea. Thanks for posting them. What a weekend. I'm about out of here to head home - just in time. I couldn't get to sleep last night until 4 am.

Wonderful pictorial, Paul!
Is the difference in color between the Sea Greens really as pronounced as it appears in the photo?

Re: Twin brothers from different mothers
On the Sea Green basses, yes, they were noticeably different, my 4003 being a tinge yellower. Steve also brought his Sea Green 381 and it was the same color as his V63, so mine is odd man out.
The RIO confluence was interesting in that there were no Rick acoustic guitars, no Rick 5- or 8-string basses, and no Montezuma Brown or Blueboy instruments (not counting Kevin Kuney's PW custom "amber Monte" guitar -- gorgeous). However, there were two 4005s there, two 4002s, and one 2030GF. And there were at least half a dozen Fender basses of various vintage/types

And don't forget about the two Lemmys, Paul!
It was cool to see and get to play so many unique Ricks, and fun to see old Forum friends and make new ones.
Thanks for taking and posting the pics, Paul. You can really see the diff in our two Minks when they're side by side like that. Mine gets almost black around the edges, yours gets dark burgundy. Yours is more pink in the middle (medium rare?!) where mine is more bare maple.
I like 'em both!

Paul,
You take beautiful photo's!
How did you like the 4004Cii Blueburst?
I was talking to Jim Boyle last night and he made mention no Chris Squire LE's either?
I noticed a beautiful 480 ATG, do you happen to have a nice shot of that one?
Man, how about doubling the size of your book, OR matching issues, one being a pictorial?

Re: Twin brothers from different mothers
Tony, the BBR Cii looked great, a little more electric blue in person. Sorry, didn't shoot the 480 as I'm documenting basses only for the proposed book.
Re: Twin brothers from different mothers
480 ATG? I was not at RIO but my guitar's twin seemed to be...
